Dr. Gary Knox is Professor of Environmental Horticulture with the University of Florida at the North Florida Research and Education Center in Quincy, just outside Tallahassee. His responsibilities are research (20%) and extension (80%) to evaluate nursery/landscape plants and develop and promote adoption of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices with a focus on plant-pest-disease interactions. His role in this crapemyrtle bark scale (CMBS) project is to 1) locate and procure Lagerstroemia species/selections and potential alternative hosts of CMBS, and 2) develop an information pipeline to raise awareness and share CMBS management strategies with stakeholders in Florida and throughout the southeastern U.S.
