Mr. Erfan Vafaie is an Extension Program Specialist in the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Overton, TX. His primary responsibility is to conduct research and extension for management of common and invasive insect pests affecting the greenhouse and nursery industry in Texas. Mr. Vafaie is a co-Principal Investigator of the multi-disciplinary and multi-state Specialty Crop Research Initiative project ‘Systematic Strategies to Manage Crapemyrtle Bark Scale, An Emerging Exotic Pest’ [grant no. 2017-51181-26831/project accession no. 1013059]. More specifically, he is involved in Objective 2-1 “CMBS population/generation dynamics” to document and predict cycles of crapemyrtle bark scale crawler activity in different locations across Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana, and Objective 2-2 “Chemical efficacy trials” to determine insecticides that are effective for managing crapemyrtle bark scale in the landscape and nursery setting. erfan.vafaie@ag.tamu.edu; 903-834-6191
